Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes we have a wide variety of Gluten free options and dairy free dishes. We can also adapt a lot of our dishes to suit a majority of dietary requirements.

Do you offer any vegan options?

We offer a fresh and tasty vegan dish of the day. We can also adapt a handful of other dishes to be vegan. Please let us know your requirements when booking/ arriving.

Are you accessible for wheelchairs?

We are indeed. We are on the main entrance level of the castle with no steps to access us or our terrace facilities. There is also a wheelchair-accessible toilet on the same level.

Do you have an allocated car park?

No, unfortunately we do not. The nearby car parking is owned by Durlston Castle and is charged for at the Durlston rate.

Do you accept Blue Light and Carers cards?

Absolutely, we offer 10% off when these cards are produced at payment.

Do you take private daytime bookings?

No – we cannot close the restaurant to the public during the daytime. You can always book a large table in the restaurant.

Do you accommodate group bookings?

Yes, we can accommodate group bookings of up to 20 depending on the time of year (we have less availability during school holidays and weekends) We do require a pre-order (24 hours in advance) of any bookings of over 8 people.

Do you offer takeaways?

We offer takeaway hot drinks in the restaurant and during peak season our takeaway kiosk offers ice creams, drinks and snacks. We do not offer our main menu as a takeaway option.

Do you open for evenings?

We do accept private evening exclusive bookings, available dates allowing. We open in the evenings to the public during the school summer holidays.

Bookings Questions

Do you take a deposit for a reservation?

We do not require a deposit to reserve a table. Hoever, our tables are always popular so we will only hold a booked table for 15 minutes past the reserved time.

Is there a time limit for each sitting?

There are no time limits for each sitting. We want you to enjoy your experience and take all the time you want to soak up the views and enjoy the food.

What happens if I’m running late?

If you are late for a booking then just call us on 01929 421111 with plenty of time, and we will all do what we can.

How do I cancel a booking?

Please call us (don’t email) to let us know, if you need to re-book we can check our availability for you.

How long is my table held for?

We hold a booked table for 15 minutes after the reserved time.

Do you take reservations over the phone/ via email?

To provide the best possible personal service we will ONLY take bookings over the phone. Please call us on 01929 421111 .

Do you take group bookings?

We take group bookings of up to 10 people in the day and up to 50 people in the evening.

Do you offer private hire?

Yes, we offer private hire in the evenings from 6pm for groups of 20 to 50 people.

What is the largest table you can accommodate?

Our largest table booking varies depending on the time of day and current bookings. Please call us on 01929 421111 to discuss.

Can we bring a birthday cake?

Of course, you can bring a birthday cake for your celebrations, there is a £10 surcharge or please call us on 01929 421111 and we can supply you with a cake if needed.

Is the restaurant child friendly?

Yes our restaurant is child friendly, we have a Little Diners Menu on our Menus Page.

Do you have high chairs?

We have several high chairs in the restaurant for you to use for your little ones.

Are there any baby changing facilities?

We have baby-changing facilities on every level of the castle.

Do you provide any entertainment for children?

There are hands-on displays, dioramas, touch-and-feel exhibits, as well as outdoor spaces to run around in, and a nearby nature trail.

Can you warm up baby milk?

Yes we can. Please ask any member of our staff for help.

Is the restaurant dog friendly?

Our restaurant is very dog friendly inside and out. We have dog bowls outside on the terrace space.

My Child is a fussy eater, will there be something they enjoy?

Please do tell us, we can change anything on our menu to accomodate.

Is the Restaurant Wheelchair accessibile?

Yes. We allow vehicle drop off directly outside the front of the building, there are no steps so you can come straight in and access outside easily. All our doors pin open. We have wheelchair lifts and accessible toilets.

Is the Restaurant close to a car park?

The car park is a 2-minute walk from our restaurant.

Are the menus easy to read?

Yes, please ask a member of staff if you need any help.

Is the restaurant well lit?

Seventh Wave is super bright and airy with lots of natural light.

Do you provide assistance in your restaurant?

Yes. If you need any help with anything please just ask any member of staff and they will be happy to help.

Do you have free wifi?

Yes. Free wifi is available throughout the restaurant, please check the board next to the bar or ask us for the password.

I’m driving, where is the best place to park?

The Durlston Country Park car park is a 2-minute walk away from the castle and our restaurant.

Can I walk to the restaurant?

Durlston Castle is located along the South West Coastal path and we regularly host walkers looking for a rest and recharge stop.

Do you have a disabled access bathroom?

There are specifically allocated disabled access toilets on the same level as our restuarant.

Do you have a wide variety on your menu?

We try to supply a variety of food on our menu to suit all needs. Please check our Menus page.

Do you offer cow milk alternatives when serving hot drinks?

We offer a variety of cow milk alternatives such as Soya, Oat, Barista Almond, and vegan hot chocolate.

Does the restaurant cater to allergies/ dietary requirements?

Please inform us of any allergies of dietary requirements when ordering. We can advise you of gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and vegetarian options and changes we can make.

Do you provide gluten-free options?

We specialise in providing gluten-free food. We are part of and have been tested by Gluten Free Dining.

Do you offer Vegetarian/ Vegan Food On Your menu

We offer both vegetarian and vegan dishes, as well as a vegan dish of the day. We can also change any vegetarian dish to be vegan.

How often does your menu change?

Our specials menu is changing all of the time. Our main menus change seasonally.

Do you serve alcohol?

Yes, we have a range of beers, ciders, ales, spirits and wine.

Can I just come in for a drink?

Yes of course, please pop in for a drink, hot or cold, alcoholic or non alchoholic.

What is your food hygene rating?

We consistently receive a 5* food hygiene rating.

Do you work from fresh ingredients?

We pride ourselves on using fresh ingredients, locally sourced where possible.

Is the fish and seafood sustainably sourced?

Yes, our fish and seafood are both sustainable and locally sourced. We have a great relationship with our local fish suppliers.

Gift Vouchers Questions

Do you supply restaurant gift vouchers?

We supply gift vouchers for our restaurant that make a wonderful present.

What value gift vouchers do you supply?

Our gift vouchers start at £10 up to £150 in £10 denominations.

How much do you charge to post gift vouchers?

We charge £1 admin fee for posting out gift vouchers.

What happens to the leftover balance of my gift voucher?

The balance will be retuned in the form of gift vouchers or cash where possible.

Can I just have coffee and cake?

Absolutely. We serve Grand Milano coffee, 100% arabica which is strong, wholesome, and full of flavor. Our cakes are sourced from specially selected local and other bakers.

What is the restaurant atmosphere like?

We provide a bright, happy and relaxed environment inside a stunning castle on the Purbeck coast with some of the best views in the UK.

Are you a cafe or a restaurant?

Seventh Wave is both a cafe and a restaurant depending on your needs if you want a coffee and cake, or a full meal.

Do you provide doggy bags?

If you want to take home uneaten food we have food waste compostable boxes to use.

What are your opening times?

We are open Monday to Sunday 9.30am to 4.30pm, with Breakfast from 09.30 to 11.15 and Lunch from 12.00 to 15.30.

Do you accept cash/ contactless payments?

Yes, we accept cash, card, contactless and gift vouchers.

I want to sit outside, can you make this possible?

Of course, we have outside tables with stunning views both in the sun and shade.

Are you open for breakfast?

We are open for breakfast from 9.30 to 11.15 with a wide variety, of vegan and full English as well as light bites.

Do you allow smoking/ ecigarettes in your outside space?

Dorset Council doesn’t allow smoking or vaping on its premises, including the terrace.

What is the capacity of your restaurant?

We have 110 covers inside and out, allowing spacious table spacing and groupings.

How far is the restaurant from Swanage beach?

We are a seven minute drive or a stunning thirty minute walk away from Swanage beach.

Are you offering discounts?

We offer a 10% discount to Blue Light card holders (emergency services), Carers with a carers card, and Friends Of Durlston.

How does tipping work? Does the money go to your team?

We do not include a service charge in our bills. Tips go straight to our wonderful team so they are rewarded for their hard work.

I’ve had the best experience. how do I say thanks?

The best way to show appreciation to our staff is through a tip of a 5* trip advisor review (or both!).

I haven’t had the best experience. Who do I tell?

If you haven’t had the best experience it is best to discuss it with a member of the management or email us. We love to learn from our mistakes and customers’ feedback

We absolutely accept ‘walk-ins’. About 90% of our customers are ‘walk-ins’.
